Report on the vacation camp at the women’s shelter

In July 2024, we organized a vacation camp for the residents and their children at the women’s refuge. The aim of this initiative was to offer women and children a break from everyday life, to have fun and “unwind” for a few days.

Program and activities

The vacation camp included a variety of activities suitable for both children and adults. The program included:

  • Excursions: During the vacation camp, we went on a special trip to a youth hostel where we spent several days. The highlights included:
    • Summer toboggan run: An exciting experience for young and old, where participants race down the run with a lot of fun.
    • Wildlife park: A visit to the wildlife park, where the families were able to experience various animals up close and learn a lot about the animal world.
    • Swimming pool: A day at the pool, which provided lots of fun in the water and a welcome cool-down on hot days.
  • Barbecue and dancing together: One evening we organized a barbecue together. This provided a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere.
  • On the final evening there was dancing to the music, which provided a lot of fun and fellowship.

The vacation camp was a great success. It was a great pleasure for all of us to spend some quality time together outside of the women’s shelter.

Some of the mothers emphasized how important it was to get a break from the often stressful everyday life in the women’s shelter. The children were delighted with the excursions and the change from everyday life.

Thank you

We would like to thank all the supporters who made this vacation camp possible. We would also like to thank the sponsors whose generous donations made this program possible.

Outlook

Due to its great success, we are planning to repeat this vacation camp every year in the future and expand the program further. Our aim is to continue to provide the women and children in the women’s shelter with such valuable experiences and to support them in their everyday lives.
